THE government has confirmed that the first group of people will write their vernacular provisional driving licence exams next month.
Speaking during a road safety Indaba last week, Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister, Felix Mhona, said people will be able to write the provisional licence exams in Shona and Ndebele.
Mhona revealed at the Road Safety Indaba held at Cresta Lodge that starting in February, the provisional license exam will also be written in Shona and Ndebele, while plans are in place for it to spread across all local languages.
He said:
In February, they (Vehicle Inspectorate Department) will start questioning in Shona and you choose what you want.
The Highway Code translation is being done with the help of Midlands State University (MSU) and the process will be extended to all local languages so that every person will choose what they are comfortable with.
