Big Blow For France As Another Player Is Hit By Illness Ahead Of World Cup Final
France manager Didier Deschamps is sweating after another squad player is struck by illness ahead of the World Cup final on Sunday.
The French team, who are on the course of claiming a back-to-back World Cup title, is reportedly suffering from a bug that has now seen three players unfit ahead of the final match against Argentina.
Initially, Dayot Upamecano and Adrien Rabiot were the first players to be announced as match unfit after being hit by a virus known as ‘the camel’.
It is also confirmed that winger Kingsley Coman has been hit by the virus, affecting French players ahead of a mouth-watering encounter.
Commenting on the situation that could be a big blow for his squad if more players suffer from the virus, Deschamps said:
“Coman also had a fever this morning.
“In Doha, the temperatures have dropped a bit, and you still have the air conditioning on all the time. We have had a few cases of flu-like symptoms.
“We are trying to be careful so that it does not spread, and the players have put in a great effort on the pitch and obviously, their immune systems suffer.”
Deschamps revealed that one of his players felt sick right after the England game, and as Rabiot was also affected by the bug, he was forced into self-quarantine.
“Dayot Upamecano felt bad immediately after the game against England. It happens when you exert yourself so much your body weakens, and you are more prone to getting these viruses.
“We’re taking all the necessary precautions; we’re trying to make sure it doesn’t spread, but viruses are, of course, infectious, and we have to take precautions against them.
“We’ll separate him from the others and Adrien as well.”
