The late former President Robert Mugabe’s daughter, Bona Mugabe, has reportedly filed summons to divorce her husband of 9 years Simbarashe Mutsahuni Chikore.

The couple tied the knot in 2014 at the height of Mugabe’s reign with the wedding itself attended by 4000 guests said to have cost nearly US$4 million and broadcast on the state run national television station ZBC.

Multiple reports suggest Bona filed divorce summons (HC 1521/2023) on Tuesday at the High Court in Harare citing that the marriage “has irretrievably broken down with no prospect of reconciliation and restoration.”

The application confirms that the “the couple have lost all love and affection for each other, and have been living apart for more than nine months.”

Bona is demanding full custody of the children with her lawyers saying;

In the event of the granting of the Divorce Decree by the honorable court it will be just and equitable that the Defendant be ordered to pay maintenance for the minor children in the sum of USD2 700 per child monthly (US$8 100 for 3 children) until attaining of majority status or they become self-sustaining whichever occurs first.”

Its also revealed that Bona had moved out to her father’s Blue Roof mansion, while Simba remained in Mount Pleasant at the house along Quorn Avenue that they were gifted by President Mugabe as a couple.

Bona and Simba were reportedly in the process of building a huge US$39 million mansion in Borrowdale.
